Hurricane Ian - How You Can Help!

UPDATE! Hit The Mitt and Saint Pete Girl Bosses are very grateful for the Snell Isle resident contributions for our younger neighbors in south Florida. They appreciate your help and are wrapping things up for now until they are made aware of further needs. Thank you again for your concern and efforts.

One way Snell Isle residents can directly help those impacted by Hurricane Ian is by providing supplies. Hit the Mitt and Saint Pete Girl Bosses are partnering to deliver new and gently used adult and children's clothing to southwest Florida. They are also asking for sports equipment donations they will deliver to rec centers and schools who may be able to help the kids while their families are dealing with the aftermath and trauma of the storm.

Catherine Nelke, our Snell Isle neighbor, and founder of Hit the Mitt, has offered to be the drop-off point for your donations. Catherine is at 1220 Monterey Blvd NE. If you have questions, please email Catherine at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Thank you Catherine, and all those who will provide donations to send down to southwest Florida.

Food Truck Friday - This Week!

We hope you'll join your neighbors, and bring your friends to the Snell Isle Food Truck Friday event on Oct 7th. Maggie On The Move and Churned Ice Cream will be providing our dinner and dessert treats that evening. Both trucks accept cash and credit cards.

Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy your meal along the parkway at Snell Isle Boulevard, in front of the Vinoy Golf Course. The trucks begin serving at 5:30 PM and will be there until approx 8:00 PM.

As we have done in the past, our featured charity is Mercy Keepers, a 501 c 3 organization. They serve those in need around St. Pete. We asked them what we could contribute and they said they will be providing Thanksgiving meal items to their clients. So if you are inclined to donate, please bring boxed mashed potatoes, canned cranberries, canned green beans, stuffing and/or gravy. Mercy Keepers also requested reusable shopping bags. Several neighbors routinely bring cash or personal checks made out to the charity. Event organizer, Kristin Bitter, collects those as well and delivers them to the charity along with the goods donated.

We hope to see everyone out on Friday night at Food Truck Friday!

Boat Break-In

From the SPPD: "Between 2:00PM on 9/16 to 10:30AM on 9/17, an unknown suspect entered a docked boat in the 1800 block of Brightwaters Blvd NE. The victim reported various missing items."

We are sorry this happened and want everyone to be aware of the incident so we can all keep an eye out and report any suspicious activity. Motion sensor lighting and security cameras are always considered good deterrents. Stay safe.
