Halloween Safety Tips

Happy Halloween to all our Snell Isle families. This Wednesday should be a fun-filled day for all our little ghosts, goblins, princesses and princes. Here is just a quick reminder of some safety tips as you trick-or-treat around the Isle. Have a boooooooooooooo-tiful Halloween everyone.

Drive Extra Safely on Halloween – Please, please, please slow down and be especially alert. Popular trick-or-treating hours are 5:30 to 9:30. Children are very excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways. Turn your headlights on earlier in the day to spot children from greater distances.

Walk Safely – Look left, right and left again when crossing and keep looking as you cross the street. Watch for cars that are turning or backing up. Do not dart out into the street or cross between parked cars.

Trick or Treat with an Adult – Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision.

Keep Costumes both Creative and Safe – Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers. Choose face paint and makeup whenever possible instead of masks. Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.

Thank you Volunteers - Coffee Pot Bayou Clean-up

Thank you Volunteers of our Coffee Pot Bayou Clean-Up Event

Due to our Red Tide issue, we had to wait until Friday to be certain the Clean-Up was a “go”. We had a wonderful turn-out – almost 80 people – and we filled one dumpster. In fact it was OVER-filled, so much so that 2 loads couldn’t fit and were hauled away by volunteers.

You made a huge difference on Saturday.Thank you all so very much for helping to keep the waters around Snell Isle clean.

Sensible Sprinkling

Sensible Sprinkling - Communications Manager Bill Logan, St. Petersburg Water Resources

Sensible sprinkling has no season. Are your sprinklers running in the rain?

Did you know that there is a simple device that senses whether your sprinkler timer actually needs to run its next cycle?

One device is called a “rain sensor”, and St. Petersburg water customers with in-ground sprinkler systems can get one installed for no charge by participating in the Sensible Sprinkling Program. You will receive a FREE check-up, an efficiency report with site-specific recommendations, a diagram of the sprinkler layout, water conservation information, and an automatic shut-off hose nozzle.
